It's already been a dozen years since W.E.T. (for the origin of the patronymic, see the previous chronicles) has been regaling us with its productions. Following the already very tasty first three opuses, "Earthrage" was just as pleasant. For this opus, Erik Mårtensson having decided to play only the guitar, it is Andreas Passmark (Royal Hunt) that took the bass. As for the masters of the place, those who gave birth to the project and who all have another musical life outside W.E.T., they are still on board the tube machine.

W.E.T. is all about energetic and addictive melodic hard rock, somewhere between in-your-face melodic rock and feel-good melodic rock. The combo, one foot camped in the 80's and the other rooted in the modern world, has thus found a good balance between classicism and modernism. He also succeeds in meeting the challenge of proposing compositions that are sufficiently worked to remain attractive over time, which is not necessarily the primary quality of the musical style.

This new opus is a success, once again. Note however that Mårtensson has an undeniable influence within the band and that "retransmission" exudes Eclipse to the fullest and smells like arena rock. No false notes are to be deplored here. Let's mention for example the opening 'Big Boys Don't Cry' where the verses are more aggressive than the strong AOR chorus, and the very successful 'Moment Of Truth'. Let's add the galvanizing 'Call Of The Wild' and the dynmaic 'Got To Be About Love' which deceive their world with their soft start. And let's not forget the two hits 'Beautiful Game' and 'Final Kiss', the epic and oriental 'How Far To Babylon' which is reminiscent of Ten, and the ballad 'What Are You Waiting For' where Soto demonstrates one more time the extent of his talent. The quality here is linear, and has been for years.

Fourth opus and Fourth ace out of the Swedes' sleeve, that's what we call winning the bet. But don't worry, you can hit the jackpot in your turn, all you have to do is get this "Retransmission". It will ensure you long hours of pleasant listening. W.E.T. is a friend who wants you well, let's bet that you will benefit from his musical benevolence.
