"Furies finally gives birth to his first album with this melodic and wild "Fortune's Gate", receptacle of a timeless heavy metal pearly with a sharp femininity."

Our first meeting with Furies dates back to 2015 and a memorable evening shared with the doomeux of Barabbas. A group entirely animated by girls and practicing a old school heavy metal could only catch our eye. Since then, the formation has given way to parity by welcoming the pair of guitarists Billy Laser and Sam Flash to replace Kim Hell White and Levana. We were expecting the first real album of the French band, lured by energetic stage performances and promising tracks, including a breathtaking cover of Dalida, 'Mourir sur scène' !

Seven years after the band was born, "Fortune's Gate" finally arrives. As an introductory remark, let's point out that the current line-up seems to be the best equipped to propel Furies to the heights they are destined for. Not that the previous damsels were not up to the job, but it must be acknowledged that the two lads provide a reinforced concrete foundation that was somewhat lacking to the quartet during its first years.

Second observation, the band was right to take its time in order to give birth to the best possible songs. They have therefore put together an extremely catchy menu that seems very difficult to resist. Ten songs, ten bombshells of 80's heavy metal. More timeless than anachronistic or nostalgic, this opus never smells like mothballs, shaped by musicians in unison with a dark and devastating energy. Above all, the latter have the intelligence to diversify their attacks and not just press the gas pedal.

Certainly, the speedy tracks are numerous, from 'The Fortunate's Gate' to 'Delusions Of Daylight' to 'Unleash The Furies', full of those typical cavalcades of the mythical eighties, while the high-pitched song of the charismatic Lynda ('You And I') anchors the ensemble in this blessed era. Never stingy with her claws, the beautiful asserts herself as the main locomotive of the group. But between the smoother curves of a 'Voodoo Chain', the dark nectar of a 'Never Say Die' and the heavy flat tones of the almost thrash 'Antidote', certainly one of its most grandiose nuggets, without forgetting the immense and implacable 'Fire In The Sky', splashed with flamboyant eruptions, the album shines with a thousand fires and a thousand shades.

"Fortunate's Gate" lives up to expectations. Participating, alongside Meurtrières or Chevalier, in this fashion for a antediluvian heavy metal with feminine vocals, Furies is no less out of tune in the musical landscape (metal or not) with its hard rock as fun as it is furious, full of a dark and vitamin-rich charm. A great future? Without a doubt!
