Aversions Crown, an Australian band, has been playing since its birth a music between sweetness and horror, melody and power, anger and appeasement. Energy, technique, melody and rhythm are equally important. Their previous album ("Xenocide") was a violent outburst with constant technique and charming melodic touches. Aversions Crown releases today "Hell Will Come For Us All", a deathcore record with sometimes progressive or groovy notes.
The disc highlights melody or moods to draw the listener into its net. Thus 'Paradigm' is fractured by an aerial passage to the hypnotic melody, 'Caught In The System' is aired by a few seconds of calm with repetitive guitar motifs and the very successful 'Sourge of Violence' plays with the contrasts between exacerbated power and melodic touches with oriental colours. The variations of 'The Soil' charm with their hammered percussion on a background of disturbing melody and 'Sorrow Never Sleeps' surprises with its choruses worthy of the John Williams soundtracks associated with blasts.
Tension is at the core of this music, especially in its set-up and compact production: 'Sourge of Violence' is built on a breathtaking wall of guitars. But the tension is also brought by the incessant blasts and the terrifying voice ('The Soil'). 'Born In The Gutter' then attracts the ear with an atmosphere of strange harmonies. It is this variety that is the strength of the album. Finally, 'Paradigm' and 'Caught in The System' display a communicative energy: the harmonies are worked on, the riffs energetic and the drums with double pedals precisely dosed...
"He Will Come For Us All" is an excellent multifaceted deathcore album. Its implementation is impeccable, its multiple variations, its melodies indispensable to the attenuation of its violence. The music of Aversions Crown is not simply violent, because its intensity and interest are renewed by its multiple colors, far from any ease, caricature or simplification, which will delight the amateurs. - Official website
