If all of FM's opus haven't always triggered widespread enthusiasm, the British formation always has in its ranks a luxurious singer of melodic rock, Steve Overland, and a guitar player, Jim Kirkpatrick, who bring the necessary extra touch of elegance to avoid the fail.

Indeed it has not been unusual for Londoners to give the impression that they are content with the union minimum by offering opuses that prove to be pleasant but without the little extra that take the guts of fans of the genre. Unfortunately, the newcomer rather places next to these albums that can't be defined as weak, but which are nonetheless disappointments. Once again, no track in this "Synchronized" will be unpleasant and the Westcoast of a 'Superstar' or a 'Best Of Time', or the velvety AOR of a 'Broken' or an 'End Of Days' with a nice round bass will make nice soundtracks to your car rides at sunset.

Luckily, without talking about dazzle, there are still a few tracks that serve as a reminder that FM remains a benchmark for high quality AOR. The eponymous track, the single 'Change For The Better' or 'Ready For Me' are beautiful pieces of a dynamic and catchy hard FM. The ballad 'Ghost Of You And I' shows emotion and is carried by Steve Overland's haunting vocals. Finally, 'Pray' brings a slight dose of surprise with its gospel and bluesy accents, as does 'Hell Or High Water' with its AC/DC-like riff.

In the end, this 'Synchronized' perfectly respects the specifications of the genre and offers once again a beautiful demonstration of the talent of its emblematic singer, but also of Jim Kirkpatrick's finely chiselled solos and Jem Davis' 80's keyboards. While it is difficult to criticize what can be considered a flawless opus, one would expect a little more from a band with such a pedigree.
