T.A.N.K. has mutated. From chrysalis he became a butterfly, abandoning his acronym and opting definitively for Think Of A New Kind. Since their beginnings, the Parisians have fulfilled their hopes and are seen as the standard-bearers of French metal. In 2015, the band released a hard-hitting work ("Symbiosis"), which had astonished Music Waves by its quality, complex rhythms and overflowing energy. Today, he releases a concept album: "Ideals Will Remain". This record tells the story of a gang's struggle (The Essence) and its armed arm (The Survivance) in a futuristic world where culture is forbidden and the evil spectre of The Entropy hangs over the air. The record is thus a desperate tale worthy of Rush ("2112") or Styx ("Killroy Was Here").

'Anima' awakens the soul, guides our first steps into this dark world. A fine melody awakens the senses, supported by almost aerial riffs and imposing drums. The rhythms are inspired by prog metal or progressive death with syncopations and multiple variations. The structure of 'Last Days of Deception' is worthy of Scar Symmetry, Carcass or Pestilence, in balance between melody, violence and dark atmosphere. The solitary six-string imposes its progressive paw with a jazz flavour and then a very progressive atmosphere born with Michael Romeo (Symphony X). Then 'EVE' is carried by a melody as dark as it is luminous where religious choirs create a serene meditative space. The stripped arpeggios of 'The Phantom' prepare the coming of a dark anger: roaring voice, powerful drums, guitar wall. The melody on 'Dean End's Night' is omnipresent, even if a wind of revolt rises, punctuated by the many rhythmic accents judiciously placed.

'Pyo Ent' offers accelerations and decelerations worthy of death mixed with prog. The groove of 'The Pledge' is contagious. From variations to variations, from raspy vocals to clear lines, from melodies to melodies the band approaches a death worthy of Omnium Gatherum bathed in deathcore touches (Carnifex or Betraying The Martyrs). The climax is reached with 'The Essence' whose rhythm is fast, powerful and majestic. The composition is an abundance of rhythms and textures, lines and turns, serene moments and bitter bites.

In choosing its identity, Think Of A New Kind also chose its sound personality. "Ideals Will Remain" is an excellent album between cyberpunk and superheroes, carried by unstoppable melodies and convoluted rhythms coming from prog, where the band deploys its talent and mastery. With a constant concern to coat its anger with harmonic sugar, Think Of A New Kind builds a personal style that fits like a glove as silky as tough.
