""Sin Pecado" confirms Moonspell's stylistic evolution towards more atmospheric, less extreme metal."

"Sin Pecado" is the fourth album from Portugal's Moonspell, but the second with more Gothic than Death Metal influences. "Irreligious" was well received by the critics, but what about "sin Pecado"?
Moonspell's great quality is its voice, which is deep but by no means guttural, and which blends in perfectly with a music that appears more angry than dark or melancholy. Nervous, saturated guitar riffs abound, but are always accompanied by discreet, effective keyboards that lighten the aggressive side of the compositions. The omnipresent electronic sounds in the intro and percussion add a great deal of mystique to an already expressive whole.
"Sin Pecado" also explores themes of sin, guilt and redemption. The lyrics delve into the complexities of human nature, tackling subjects such as desire, lust and spiritual conflict. Moonspell frontman Fernando Ribeiro's haunting, introspective lyrics reinforce the emotional depth of the songs.
Despite the relative stylistic simplicity, Moonspell delivers here an excellent album focused on emotion and the tribal. Continuous listening to "Sin Pecado" is neither tiresome nor boring, a rarity in gothic music. Moonspell is one more reference to add to your list of bands to follow with the greatest attention. - Official website
