""Roxy Blue" is a hard rock album full of energy, sometimes on the edge of punk, aimed above all at lovers of simple and aggressive music."

They are legion, these bands which, after having released a record or two, disappear for many years and suddenly reappear from the past, probably drawn from the abyss by a feeling of nostalgia for their young people who have fled. Such is the case of Roxy Blue, an American band formed in 1989 and which offers twenty-seven years later a successor to its only album before that day, "Want Some?

As if to underline the fact that this is a new life, the album simply bears the band's name, a process generally reserved for the first album, in order to facilitate its memorization by the potential consumer ("Roxy Blue" by Roxy Blue singing "Roxy Blue", by force, it comes in...).

"Roxy Blue" contains eleven songs without frills, a succession of verses and choruses barely leaving place for short instrumental bridges, divided into two groups, one made of a muscular but melodious hard rock, the other pure ball of energy spitting its aggressiveness in a punklike rage. In the first category, we find "Silver Lining", energetic and convincing, "Collide", an acoustic ballad that gently increases in power with a raspy voice on the chorus that is not unlike that of Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), "Blinders", not unpleasant but heard a thousand times, at the short instrumental passage inspired by "Kashmir", or "How Does It Feel" that could easily be played on FM waves.

But other tracks are much more aggressive and heavy: the melodies are abandoned in favor of pure power, the voice is distorted and screams more than it sings, the sound of the guitars is dirty, the bass rhythm all the time and the drums hit like a deaf person: if "Scream" still alternates melodic choruses and more rough verses, "Outta The Blue", "Til The Well Runs Dry" and "Human Race" abandon all melodic research, everything being a pretext to pass in force. Pieces that can plunge fans of hard music into a trance but leave everyone else by the side of the road.

If the melodic side unrolls a conventional but pleasant hard rock, listening to tracks tinged with punk is harder and does not seem to address the same audience. "Roxy Blue" will nevertheless appeal to all those who like above all to let off steam by shaking everything they can on exciting rhythms.
