We will not give you the affront to introduce you to Royal Republic since Music Waves follows and relays the work of the group from its beginnings in 2011 with "We Are The Royal". Since the release of "Weekend Man" three years ago, the only significant event to note concerns the new Swedish label, Nuclear Blast, renowned for its catalogue of metal bands. But it's not that surprising when you consider that they're going to find another Swedish band that plays in spheres not so far away: Night Flight Orchestra.
You always know what to expect when you start reading a Royal Republic album, but each time the magic works instantly, you let yourself be carried away by the chiselled harmonies, the riffs that make you clap your feet and the vintage energy that sets you in motion. Royal Republic welcomes us to its "Majesty Club" with four nuggets of alternative signed by its guitars with raw sounds ('Boomerang'), funky for its typical riffing and energizing brass ('Fireman & Dancer','Under Cover') and disco with its festive and dancing rhythms ('Can't Fight The Disco').
Royal Republic is having fun brutally breaking the dynamic with a UFO with a slow metric and atypical gravity to better return to its more entertaining playground. This crack highlights a second part with luminous formats barely scratched by the few facets of the aggressive "Fortune Favors" with its hammered chorus in a loop. "Club Majesty" definitely captivates the listener with its heady charms with the fast "Flower Power Madness" and its powerful soul vocals, the brit-rock "Stop Movin" or "Anna-Leigh" and its delicious west-coast 80's sounds.
"Club Majesty" ends with an apotheosis of energy with a crazy "Bulldog" that gives the uncontrollable desire to replay the record. Through its offbeat approach, the look of another time of its members and its always sunny mood Royal Republic enchants us. But this apparent lightness must not deceive, the work to condense so many addictive and lively choruses is the work of a goldsmith. Listen to "Club Majesty" in the morning when you wake up and it will replace the cup of coffee and the buttered rusk. - Official website
