Despite a certain disaffection of the public for true metal, Piet Sielck rushes straight ahead and continues with his classmates to offer quality records in the purest Germanic speed metal. The last two were very correct and a compilation of re-recorded tracks had signed the band's twentieth anniversary in 2017.
The next part of the adventures is a tenth album, "Kill Or Get Killed" which presents a cover that remains in the science fiction theme dear to Sielck. In 10 tracks, the band shows a real know-how. There is nothing new, of course, but you don't feel the weight of years or weariness when you listen, there is always that candid freshness that makes the charm of the band and the genre.
The whole is homogeneous, without weakness or downtime. There is enough to shake your head more than once with nice moments of speed metal. Thus Iron Savior offers with "Kill Or Get Killed", "Eternal Quest", "Stand Up And Fight", "Legends Of Glory" and "Sinner Or Saint" good and very effective tracks carried by quality choruses, easy to remember. We appreciate the vocals of a Piet still at ease with an epic tone a little raspy. The riffs and solos are melodic and the fast rhythm is highly appreciated.
A few titles bring some nuances and help to avoid fatigue. "Roaring Thunder" is quite a rush with a big thrash riff while "Never Stop Believing" moves away from the speed to land efficiently on a heavy catchy and even a little FM on the chorus. Finally there is "Until We Meet Again" which surprises by alternating over more than 7 minutes the atmospheres with a very heavy Sabbath style side and a beautiful dark epic force.
"Kill Or Get Killed" will surely only interest absolute fans of the genre, happy to find this Germanic sound so catchy. And finally, and this is probably the most important thing, Iron Savior continues its journey far from the fashions and does it with a certain class. - Official website
