The last three albums of Last Autumn's Dream, the Swedish melodic hard rock band that has written - with one exception - an annual album since 2004, had not convinced due to their weakness, linearity and poor inspiration. So, what can we expect today from this combo with its past lustre? Should we fear the presence, within this new production, of four revisited tracks from "II", their second album, and one from the opus "Winter In Paradise", leaving us with only thirty-five minutes of new material?
Some of the ten unreleased tracks are songs written in the past and never marketed, others have been composed solo by the band's frontman, the aforementioned Erlandsson whose name is associated with that of the band on the cover. And surprisingly, they are good ! Power and melody are well here with the thundering "Eye Of The Hurricane" and the sulphurous "Evil". The following is just as pleasing with a muscular mid-tempo "Pain" and a ballad by Erlandsson - "Have To Let You Go" - that could soothe an All Black after a hakka. Then comes a 'Why' which, although much more pop, reconnects with the fever of yesteryear. At last, "Break Another Heart" and the joyful and jumping "Why", the rough riffs of 'Love Is The Answer' and the hit 'When She's Gone' bring their share of happiness too.
This time, the Swedes won't hear us complain about the low level of their new production. What a nice surprise, what a slap in the face! Just a point of clarification: in Japan this album is presented as a LAD opus, everywhere else it is an Erlandsson disc entitled "Capricorn Six"! - Official website
