The Browning is an American band that plays a metalcore coated with electro, daring to mix opposite universes. Music Waves had enjoyed the previous opus ("Isolation"), even if it was sometimes difficult to enter the Brownian universe. A few years and a few staff changes later, here is "Geist", the new musical spectrum, the n+4 version of this dark intelligence.

Electro + Metalcore + pop harmonies = The Browning. It is this equation that "Geist" solves once again, an album bathed in synthetic sounds (their identity) and raw anger (their roots). But no matter what the qualifiers, the opus has as its core a luminous and burning energy. So from the first few seconds of 'Sick Minds' to 'Amnesia' or perhaps 'Skybreaker', the rhythms are challenging, the riffs heavy and the synthesizers omnipresent. But beyond this synthetic coating, electro ornamentations are the essence of "Geist": bases on which (sometimes strange) melodies can rest.

The opus is summed up by the words "melody", with "Final Breath" where the harmonies offer an interesting counterpoint to aggressiveness or "Carnage" bathed in cheaptune sounds that dress it with an almost supernatural aura, "honesty" that inhabits "Skybreaker" and "power" with "Beyond Stone" which is inhabited by a cavernous voice and a touching melodic song, or "Ever Lost" and "Octophobia" which multiply the rhythmic variations and overwhelming passages at the edge of the djent.

"Geist" is a good album, perhaps more direct and "smooth" than "Insulation". The Browning continues on its way without deviating from it. The album is pleasant, even if it is sometimes expected and a little long, some tracks being diluted under tons of rhythmic heaviness. The amateur will nevertheless find his happiness there. "Gheist" is the album of the confirmation, the continuity of an inventive, transgressive and unique band.
