"Volbeat confirms with 'Seal The Deal & Let's Boogie' a certain talent for melody and catchy choruses, without leaving the Heavy aspects aside."

With "Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies", Volbeat had confirmed their status. In five albums, Poulsen and his men have kicked a slumbering metal anthill with an excellent mix of genres and an incredible freshness. But considering its very marked style, a band such as Volbeat has to renew itself and even if its last album had seen them proposing catchier tracks while remaining biting, the Danish combo could give the impression of resting a little too much on its laurels by proposing us just a good album. The question with this sixth album, "Seal The Deal & Let's Boogie", will be to know if it will be the benchmark album we're waiting for.
Like the previous one, the album is rich and allows the band to propose a clever mix between rock tracks tinted with pop and unbeatable melodies and more metallic tracks. The catchy tracks cut for the US radios represent an important part of the record especially in its first part. With 'Marie Laveau' and 'Let It Burn', Volbeat mixes hard rock and melodies with catchy refrains and heavy solos confirming the class of Rob Caggiano. For Evigt' is an even catchier track in the idea of 'Cape Of The Hero', with an efficient chorus and a very nice melody close to pop. Poulsen does a great job on these songs, showing new vocal progress.
But the band also knows how to be heavy and signs powerful tracks: 'The Devil's Bleeding Crown', 'The Gates Of Babylon' or 'Mary Jane Kelly' are typical of the style of the band, powerful but melodic as the devil. At the end of the record, 'Seal The Deal' and 'The Loa's Crossroad' are two little amazing songs with very strong riffs and solos. Finally, Volbeat offers more rock'n'roll songs in the same old-fashioned spirit that we love so much about him. With two replays, 'Rebound' of the punk band Teenage Bottlerocket and interpreted in a rock in the Cheap Trick and 'Battelship Chains', a title more southern, he confirms his love of the vintage, love confirmed with 'Black Rose', an excellent duet with Danko Jones, very rock' roll. We only regret that at the end of the record, the band misuses a little too much the easy songs and releases us two titles quickly forgotten.
With "Seal The Deal & Let's Boogie", Volbeat is clearly aiming at a large audience and is trying to go one step further. "Seal The Deal & Let's Boogie" is a very varied record with some very good tracks intended to delight its fans, but only time will tell if it is the one of the consecration. - Official website
