"Nightingale allows us to appreciate the less extreme side of Dan Swanö. No growl nor hyper technical riff in this "Invisible", just a very melodic and direct music."

Nightingale is one of the many projects in which the productive and protean Dan Swanö gives free rein to his inspiration. Rather known for his work in Progressive Death Metal with notably Edge Of Sanity, the man decided to change register for this project. No growl or hyper technical riffs on Nightingale, just a very melodic and direct music.

If the format of the tracks oscillating between four and five minutes doesn't allow for long developments, "Invisible" is nevertheless a constant pleasure to listen to. Reminiscent of the Germanic Metal of the 80's, the music proposed here favours emotion over technicality, which is found on strong tracks such as 'The Wake' or the superb 'Stalingrad' which closes the album in beauty.

Beware, simplicity does not mean austerity. The clear voice, with its rather neutral range, can be suave or more furious depending on the atmosphere and some retro keyboard sounds come to support the guitars. The latter, both simple and intelligent, take the lion's share and deliver square and groovy riffs (Misery). Various interventions on the acoustic guitar spice up the already very endearing compositions.

Without being the album of the year, "Invisible" should please a rather large audience. Nightingale is a good way to discover one of the many facets of Dan Swanö and may even attract some to his more extreme projects.
