With this "Black In Mind", Rage starts a new life. This tenth album sees the German band change label and it inaugurates its new line-up. In the studio, Peavy Wagner receives the help of Christian Wolff for the production as well as the orchestrations and this contribution will be fundamental. With a new logo and a superb cover by Andreas Marschall, this new album will see Rage take an important step towards more melodies and orchestral arrangements. The set also features darker lyrics inspired by Lovecraft.
On this album, the band is transfigured. The loss of Manni Schmidt is compensated by a formidable duet of ease and Wagner finally gives the thrill via a deep, inhabited, melodic and powerful song. Never has he sung so well bringing to the tracks a considerable strength.
Rage presents a heavy metal always incisive but focused on the melody and the chorus. Besides 'Black In Mind', 'Sent By The Devil', 'Forever', or 'The Crawling Chaos', little nuggets both powerful and accessible that make the new guitar duo, Fischer and Efthimiadis, shine with technique on each riff and soli, the record offers us some very great songs. Christian Wolff brings his touch on 'In A Nameless Time', an orchestral and progressive track that illuminates the heart of the album. In this orchestral perspective 'Alive But Dead' and its remarkable rise in power which leads to a chorus of anthology gives the shiver and 'All This Time' concludes the disc on a splendid ballad full of symphonic passages.
With "Black In Mind" Rage enters another artistic dimension and finally becomes a major band of the metal scene.
