With "Possession", the Polish band Crystal Viper offer us their fifth album in less than 6 years. Until "Legends" released in 2010, Marta Gabriel's band had signed a faultless album with its old school heavy metal sounding straight out of the early 80s. But in 2012, the band was a bit wrong with a low quality "Crimen Excepta". If the band doesn't renew itself, it at least finds back its efficiency of composition and sends us once again in the past with its old school heavy metal.

After a short useless introduction, we enter the heart of the matter with 'Julia Is Possessed', a small heavy metal track with a fast and efficient chorus containing some calmer medieval passages. Later on, some songs stand out more particularly like 'Fight Evil With Evil', with the participation of Harry Conklin from Jag Panzer and 'Why Can't You Listen?'. Heavy and epic, these two songs have unstoppable choruses and melodies. 'You Will Die You Will Burn' will also be remembered for its irresistible Iron Maiden side as well as a small stylistic evolution with the single 'Prophet Of The End' on which Marta sings more than she screams and whose epic and symphonic music will strongly remind us of Nightwish.

"Possession" is a good vintage from Crystal Viper which finds some beautiful colours. Of course the freshness and vigour of the beginnings are no longer there but the Polish band seems to be able to last beyond a fad.

ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA: Zoom - 2013 Edition (2013)
ROCK - In 2001 a new Electric Light Orchestra album was released. Missed it! It was in fact a solo album of Jeff Lynne reissued in 2013 with the bonuses which are necessary...
AIRBAG: The Greatest Show On Earth (2013)
PROGRESSIVE ROCK - With "The Greatest Show On Earth", the Norwegian band still sounds like a mix of Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree.
