Produced in 2003 and globalized by his label in 2004, this record only reaches us today. All right, all right! Voyager comes from Perth in southwestern Australia, but I mean, it's not Mars either! Anyway, this very young band is formed by musicians from quite different backgrounds whose encounter is crystallized by Element V.

If the first impression may be negative, Voyager becomes, as you listen to it, more and more endearing. Their music manages to stay fresh even if all the clichés of the genre are used one after the other. This is an achievement. The musicians are doing quite well, in particular the singer, who, without having a high-flying organ, manages to modulate his voice, passing from softness to black aggressiveness (very little reassurance) giving a character and a dimension superior to the compositions. These range from atmospheric to speed and all the intermediate stages.

Aired by a few interludes in a very pronounced "techno" register and most often nice, the content could seem disconnected and incoherent and yet a unity emerges from this album. "Element V" is  record which should have merged into the mass but which manage to rise above the insipid productions. By combining a notable personality, yet based on recipes that have long been tried and tested, Voyager, a formation of all paradoxes, should eventually seduce you.

PROGRESSIVE ROCK - To evoke the Irish emigration towards the United States, Camel makes speak its heart and delivers us with "Harbour Of Tears" the most moving of its albums.
BEYOND TWILIGHT: Section X (2005)
PROGRESSIVE METAL - Section X is a big slap prog metal and certainly one of the best albums, all styles combined, of the year 2005.
