LYNYRD SKYNYRD announced today the death of guitarist Gary Rossington at the age of 71.
It is with our deepest sympathy and sadness that we have to advise, that we lost our brother, friend, family member, songwriter and guitarist, Gary Rossington, today.
Gary is now with his Skynyrd brothers and family in heaven and playing it pretty, like he always does.
Please keep Dale, Mary, Annie and the entire Rossington family in your prayers and respect the family’s privacy at this difficult time.

The only remaining original member of LYNYRD SKYNYRD, Gary Rossington has had a number of health issues in recent years. In July 2021, he underwent emergency heart surgery. Six years earlier, he suffered a heart attack, causing several of the band's concerts to be cancelled. He also underwent quintuple bypass surgery in 2003 due to coronary heart disease. In 2019, he underwent surgery to repair a leaking heart valve.
