Guitarist and singer David Crosby died at the age of 81, the newspaper Variety announced on Thursday, January 19, citing a press release from his wife, Jan Dance, which evokes a "long illness".
According to the press release quoted by Variety, David Crosby died surrounded by his wife and his son Django, but it is not known precisely on what date. His Twitter account was still active on Wednesday.
Originally from California, where he was born in 1941, David Crosby established himself as one of the pioneers of rock'n'roll, mixing sounds from England and American folk. He had his first successes surrounded by his acolytes from THE BYRDS, then from CROSBY, STILL, NASH & YOUNG, before also going solo.
