Formed in 1991 in Livorno, Italy, Eldritch initially consisted of Terence Holler (vocals), Eugene Simone (guitar), Adriano Dal Canto (drums) and Martin Kyhn (bass). From the outset, Eldritch presented a highly technical progressive metal style inspired by bands such as Dream Theater, Fates Warning and Symphony X.
Eldritch's debut album, "Seeds of Rage", released in 1995, marked the beginning of their discography. The album laid the foundations for the band's future success: progressive heavy metal with fast, muscular riffs, omnipresent keyboards and hyper-technical breaks. Albums such as 'Headquake' (1997), 'El Niño' (1998) and 'Reverse' (2001) confirmed Eldritch's reputation as a force to be reckoned with on the progressive metal scene.
The band's music has always been able to evolve, at times moving away from progressive to a more direct, almost thrash style, or incorporating more melodic elements. The arrival of keyboardist Gabrielle Caselli in 2010 brought a new dimension to Eldritch's sound, contributing to the atmospheric and melodic elements present in their latest work.
The following years have seen Eldritch continue to release albums well-loved by the metal community such as 'Tasting the Tears' (2014) and 'Cracksleep' (2018), further cementing their status as a respected and enduring band in the progressive metal genre. Their latest album to date, 'Innervoid' (2023), doesn't deny this, even if Eldritch's best days now seem to be behind them.
