Blink-182 is an American pop punk band formed in 1992 in Poway, California. The band consists of two core members: Mark Hoppus (vocals and bass) and Travis Barker (drums).
The band began its musical journey in suburban San Diego, where Mark Hoppus and original drummer Scott Raynor met in high school. They began playing together and quickly developed a musical chemistry. In 1992, they recruited guitarist Tom DeLonge, and it was then that Blink-182 was officially born.
The band's first studio album, entitled "Cheshire Cat", was released in 1994 and caught the attention of the emerging punk rock and alternative music industry. However, it was with their second album, 1997's "Dude Ranch", that Blink-182 achieved wider notoriety. The album was buoyed by the hit single 'Dammit', which became a veritable anthem for the band's fans.
In 1999, Blink-182 released their third studio album, "Enema of the State", which marked a major turning point in their career. The album became a huge commercial success thanks to the singles "All the Small Things", "What's My Age Again?" and "Adam's Song". "Enema of the State" propelled the band to the forefront of the global music scene and established their reputation as pop punk leaders.
Their fourth album, "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" (2001), confirmed their status as one of the alternative scene's leading bands, with hit singles such as "The Rock Show", "First Date" and "Stay Together for the Kids". Blink-182 continued to release successful albums, notably "Blink-182" (2003).
In 2005, Blink-182 announced an indefinite hiatus due to internal tensions and artistic differences. During this period, the members pursued individual musical projects. Mark Hoppus formed the band +44, Tom DeLonge co-founded Angels & Airwaves, and Travis Barker worked with several artists as a session drummer.
After several years apart, Blink-182 reunited in 2009 for a tour. However, in 2015, Tom DeLonge left the band and was replaced by Alkaline Trio member Matt Skiba. After an innovative album ("California") and a slightly more sententious one ("Nine"), Skiba was dismissed and replaced by Tom Delonge, who made his grand return to the band. "One More Time" was released in 2023 and reached number one in the US Billboard charts.
