Here we are, last TOP WAVES of the year 2022 !

As usual, let's have an amused (or disillusioned, it's up to us) look at the official French ranking of the album sales for the month.

You have to go to the 16th place to find the boss Bruce Springsteen and "Only the Strong Survive"
"Will of the People" by Muse is 34th
"Mercury Act I" by Imagine Dragons is 42nd
"Return of the Dream Canteen" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers is 66th
"The Car" by Arctic Monkeys is 77th
"Zeit" by Rammstein is 88th

TOP WAVES - GENERAL

The big winner is Disillusion (since that's who we're talking about), a band that hadn't given any sign of life since 2012 and the album "Gloria" when it came back to business in 2019 with "The Liberation".

"At a time when the genre has a tendency, more than reason, to move towards pure technique, Disillusion remains faithful to its postulate of privileging emotion, without sacrificing technique, but without making it an end in itself either. For this reason alone, this very beautiful album deserves the detour as much as the respect." (Newf)

DISILLUSION Ayam

Second place, second progressive metal band, the "frenetic" Teramaze in this case.

""Flight of the Wounded" will necessarily appeal to fans of melodic metal and to those nostalgic for a classic progressive metal that is not so outdated when written with so much foresight." (ProgRacer)

TERAMAZE Flight Of The Wounded

The podium is completed by BlackRain.

"After the excellent "Dying Breed", "Untamed" is a new flawless album which proves that BlackRain is a band whose scope should largely exceed our French borders" (Loloceltic)

TOP WAVES  - METAL

This last TOP WAVES METAL will not reserve the surprises of last month. The first and second places go to Disillusion and Teramaze respectively. But a question arises: who will inherit the last place of the podium?

It's Royal Hunt who wins this third place with a remarkable "Dystopia", a subtle and harmonious album."

TOP WAVES - ROCK

Without surprise also the first place of the TOP WAVES ROCK goes to BlackRain who precedes Bjorn Riis.

"For the past fifteen years, whether with his original band Airbag or solo, Bjorn Riis has been distilling, album after album, a more or less sustained dose of his love for Pink Floyd. With this new EP, he takes the plunge by slipping into the skin of his inspirers, for four tracks with a magnificent smell of the past. (TonyB)

BJORN RIIS A Fleeting Glimpse

And it is another progressive band, Galahad, which completes this last podium.

"The method works, Galahad has reached a balance that allows him to link effective albums, tracks oscillating between friendly energy and sensitivity" (Abaddon)
